“Flying the first solo flight has been one of the most thrilling times of my life” says Mr. Dwayne Matiara who flew solo for the first time on 2nd September 2014. Dwayne comes from Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea and will spend the next next few months with us training towards his Private Pilot Licence and Commercial Pilot Licence.
Becoming a pilot has been a childhood dream for Dwayne. Like many youngsters in Papua New Guinea and from across the world, Dwayne would like to fly for an airline one day.We will be preparing him to be an airline ready pilot by training him for the Commercial Pilot Licence, Instrument Rating and Multi engine aircraft training. He could also choose to become a qualified Flight Instructor and build his Pilot in Command hours or complete the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory exams and Multi Crew Coordination course. We are approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea (CASA PNG) as a Flight Training Provider, giving our students from Papua New Guinea an advantage over PNG pilots trained elsewhere and improving their chances of securing the job when our students interview with Air Niugini, PNG Airlines and other companies in PNG. For students who want to complete a formal qualification, we have the New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (NZQA level 6 course).
Our training courses begin throughout the year and we have welcomed international students from over 18 countries including Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bhutan, Brunei, Bahrain, Russia and New Zealand. Our students not only train to be pilots but also discover New Zealand during their training and have several opportunities to enjoy the laid back Kiwi culture while with us.
Get in touch with us today if you are thinking about becoming a pilot! Even if you already have some flying experience, don’t hesitate because we will tailor a course to meet your specific requirements.
